# Search Console Performance report

> The Performance report shows clicks, impressions, CTR and average position in Google Search, for three months by default. Totals can differ because some views aggregate by property and others by page. Web search is split into text-based and multimodal searches, which include Lens and Circle to Search.

## Metrics

> **Officially documented:**
> **Clicks**: times a user clicked through to your site from Google Search results. **Impressions**: times your site appeared in Search results. **CTR**: clicks divided by impressions. **Average position**: "The average position of the topmost result from your site."

The default view covers the last three months.

## Why totals don't add up

> **Officially documented:**
> Data on the chart is aggregated by property: "if two results from the same site appear for one query, they count as a single impression in the chart total." In the table, rows by query, country, device or date are aggregated by property. Rows by page or search appearance are aggregated by page. As a result, chart totals can differ from table totals.

> **Officially documented:**
> "Even if a query appears in your list, you might not see your site in results if you run the same query in Google Search. This is because Search results are specific to the time, place, device, and recent history of the person searching."

## Search types

> **Officially documented:**
> Web search is split into **text-based** (text typed into the standard Google search bar) and **multimodal** (image searches). Multimodal includes "Google Lens, Circle to Search on Android, uploaded images, and Chrome image search". Image, Video and News cover their own tabs.
