## The Generative AI performance report

> **Officially documented:**
> The Generative AI performance report "shows data about how your site performs in generative AI features on Google Search". Google states it rolled out to all websites worldwide as of August 31, 2026. It covers **AI Overviews** and **AI Mode**, not Search Labs experiments; Discover has a separate report.

> **Officially documented:**
> The report shows **impressions**: "how many times links to your site were shown to a user in a generative AI feature". Data is grouped by page (the canonical URL), country, date or device. It can be filtered by search type (text-based or multimodal).

If the report is missing, Google says the site usually hasn't had enough impressions. The site may also be excluded through the [Search generative AI control](https://geo.casa/ai-search/search-generative-ai-control/).

> **Officially documented:**
> Google's AI optimization guide points site owners to this report to measure generative AI visibility. It also warns: "No third-party tool has access to our internal ranking or AI systems."

## The overall Performance report

> **Officially documented:**
> Sites appearing in AI features "are included in the overall search traffic in Search Console". They are reported in the **Performance** report within the **"Web"** search type.

So AI feature impressions and clicks remain part of overall Search totals. The Generative AI report is a separate view of the impressions.

## What it still can't tell you

- Why impressions changed. Query volume, competition and model updates all move the numbers.
- Clicks. The help article describes impressions; use the overall Performance report and analytics for traffic.
